About USIC and the
China Threat

Non-Profit watchdog group:

For many years before 9/11 – a major thrust of USIC’s advocacy and awareness efforts has been to close the breach in our national security presented by America’s 361 harbors and ports. One of the chief exploiters of this vulnerability have been Chinese shipping firms, such as the China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), which Congress has identified as “the merchant marine arm of the People’s Liberation Army.”

      The Voice of the People

In 1998, USIC collected and delivered to Congress more than 334,000 petitions from citizens who were alarmed at the Clinton administration’s plan to lease the former Long Beach Naval Station to COSCO in return for campaign contributions.  The courts later ruled this illegal and ordered the Naval Station returned.  Our press conference on Capitol Hill called national attention to the China threat on our own shores. Congress listened and passed legislation, HR 1119, with an amendment by California Rep. Duncan Hunter banning such transfers.  USIC helped this become Public Law 105-85.

         China Beachhead
However, with COSCO’s determination, moving instead into Pier J, USIC has continued its efforts to halt Red China’s beachhead in America.  With your help, we’ve , collected and delivered 621,833 signed, individual petitions to Congress, the President and policymakers in just the last few years. Despite opposition and lethargy on this issue from Congress.

USIC and its many grassroots supporters are determined to see to it that COSCO is evicted from Pier J where they are ensconced.  Many congressional leaders and their staffs have been lulled into thinking that COSCO is just another foreign company with no malicious intent.  COSCO has been determined by intelligence officials to be an arm of the Peoples Republic of China, where everything is controlled by the Communist Party.

USIC Program Activities

Our public awareness and advocacy program includes:

• 2007 Save Pier J Petition Campaign collected 1.1 million petitions and surveys opposing COSCO occupation of Pier J for presentation to Congress.  Now the American people have spoken and it is up to Congress to act to eject COSCO from its strategic position in Long Beach.  Over 60,000 petitions have been sent or on their way to Senator Richard Lugar's office asking for just that.

• Publishing two mass market paperbacks on the issue: China Doll: Clinton, Gore and the Selling of the U.S. Presidency and Stealth Invasion: Red Chinese Operations in North America (out of print), with a final total combined print run of 1.4 million.

• Distributing tens of thousands of free copies of the books to USIC supporters and citizens all  across the country.  USIC provided these important books free of charge to Congress, the executive branch and the media.

• Donating 5,791 copies of Stealth Invasion to public libraries nationwide

• Sponsoring a Summit on Red China at the annual Western Conservative Conference in 2000, 2001 and 2002, attended by more than 200 important leaders who heard from such speakers as Congressman Tom Tancredo, Reagan advisor Lyn Nofziger and lauded former Congressman (B-1)Bob Dornan.

• Congressman Tancredo spoke on the China Threat to the United States at Western Conservative Conference.  USIC was a primary sponsor of the event.

• Publishing the “Red Alert” on the China threat newsletter mailed to membership and the US Congress.  The newsletter calls attention to important issues of the China threat to US national security.

More USIC Program

• Hosting national security briefings at the annual Camp David Area Leadership Conference in 2005 and 2006.  The focus of the annual briefings were the the current configuration of the Red China Threat.

• Sending investigative teams to Pier J in Long Beach, CA, and Charleston, SC, to observe firsthand COSCO operations in those major ports. Our team team caught COSCO engaging in irregular activities with potentially dangerous environmental impact with cargo containers in August 2005. When our staff brought this activity to the attention of the Port Authority, it was explained away as "Training Exercises."  Training exercises or not, this improper handing of containers needs to be reviewed for its affect on the delicate ecosystem of the Long Beach Harbor.

• Holding “Lobby Days” where members are invited to attending congressional briefings

• Sponsoring the national Conservative Political Action Conference

Awarding Congressman Curt Weldon (R) of PA the 2006 Ronald Reagan Award for his aggressive leadership in protecting US national security.

USIC Revoked the 2006 Ronald Reagan Award to Congressman Curt Weldon (R) of PA the because of the influence peddling scandal involving Bogoljub Karic of Serbia and the Congressman Weldon's  Daughter.

This revocation is unprecedented in the long history of presenting these awards.  USIC staff are  saddened by the necessity of this extraordinary measure in the light of the serious Congressional corruption scandal.

USIC presents the Ronald Reagan Award is given from time to time to leaders who follow and demonstrate the principles of President Ronald Reagan in the public policy arena.

COSCO – the Chinese Overseas Shipping Company – should not be confused with COSTCO, a retail store in the USA.
